Updates in April

What’s happening at StromNow in April

Updated today

Following the major system migration, we are continuing to prioritize the stabilization of the new system, improve internal processes, and further optimize the charging experience in the app.

It is important to us to communicate openly and transparently: what has already improved, what we are currently working on, and what is still coming in the next few weeks.

Current status

With the system migration, we created the foundation for a significantly stronger and more modern charging network.

As of now:

  • more than 1 million charging points are officially available in the app

  • charging across Europe is available with StromNow

  • the system has been moved to a new and significantly more powerful technical foundation

At the same time, we know that not everything has been running smoothly in recent weeks. That is exactly what we are continuing to work on every day.

More operators coming in April

Throughout April, additional operators and charging points will continue to be added. Many stations and partners have already returned, and more are being activated step by step.

These include, among others:

  • ChargePoint Austria

  • Shell

  • Tesla

  • several municipal utilities

  • additional smaller regional providers

Special case: EZE

We are still in discussions with EZE.

At the moment, EZE is blocking roaming access with us, which means these charging stations are currently not available via StromNow.

We are working to restore the connection, but unfortunately we cannot provide a final date yet.

Prices and conditions

We are continuing to work intensively on securing better pricing and gradually bringing back more attractive conditions.

Due to the migration to the new charging network, many of our previous purchase conditions no longer apply. In many cases, we are currently receiving the official roaming prices from the respective operators, which we have to pass on at the moment.

It is important to us to make this clear:
The current prices are not the result of a new business model, but are based on the conditions we currently receive from the network ourselves.

We know that pricing at many locations is still not where it should be. That is why price optimization remains one of our main priorities throughout April.

Stabilizing the system and app processes

In April, our focus is not only on bringing back more operators, but also on continuing to stabilize the system and processes within the app.

This includes, among other things:

  • improving internal processes

  • stabilizing charging authorization and data flows

  • further optimizing price and fee displays

  • improving the overall reliability of automatic payments

Route planner improvements

The route planner will also continue to improve throughout April.

We have already received a lot of valuable feedback and are working on developing this feature step by step to make it even more useful in everyday use.

Android version

We are also continuing to work on the Android version. The release of the Android app is planned for summer.

Invoices and charging details

There has also been an important update regarding invoices:
We have now added the charging details to invoices as well. This means you can now see not only the invoice itself, but also the related details of the corresponding charging session in one document.

Fraud prevention

For fraud prevention reasons, we currently reserve €5 when a charging session starts. This is a pre-authorization, not an additional fee.

If this amount is used during the charging session, it is automatically offset against the actual charging costs. If the charging session costs less, the unused amount will be released or refunded.

This security measure became necessary due to an increase in cases of credit card fraud and insufficiently funded accounts.

Thank you for your patience

We are doing everything we can to complete this system migration properly and continue improving StromNow step by step throughout April.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your honest feedback.
