How to Start Charging with the App

Welcome to the Help Center! In this article, you’ll learn how to start charging your EV easily using the StromNow app.

Just follow the steps below and you’re ready to charge.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open the app

Open the StromNow app and make sure you are logged in and have a stable internet connection.

2. Select a station

Go to the “Map” section and tap on the charging station you want to use to open the station details.

3. Check “Charge Now”

If you see the “Charge Now” button in the station details, charging at this station is available through StromNow.

Important: If the button is not visible, charging via StromNow is currently not available at that station.

4. Select the connector and continue

Tap “Charge Now”, choose the correct connector or charging point / ID, and then tap “Continue”.

5. Check prices and payment method

You will now see the current prices and your saved payment method. Please review the information before starting the charging session.

6. Start the charging session

Swipe the “Charge and Pay” slider to the right to start the charging session.

7. Confirm if required

If a notice appears, read it briefly and tap “Confirm”.

8. Track the charging progress

Once charging has started, you can monitor the progress directly in the app, at the charging station, or in your vehicle.

Tips for smooth charging

1. Check compatibility

Make sure the connector type and charging power of the station match your vehicle.

2. Enable location access

With location access enabled, it is often easier and faster to find suitable charging stations.

3. Keep the app up to date

Whenever possible, use the latest version of the StromNow app.

1. The charging session won’t start — what can I do?

Please check the following first:

  • Is your vehicle connected properly?

  • Is the charging station available and operational?

  • Did you select the correct connector?

Then try the process again:
“Charge Now” → Select connector → “Continue” → Swipe “Charge and Pay”

2. Where can I see my previous charging sessions?

You can find an overview of your previous sessions under “Activity” → “Charging Sessions”.
