When Smart Charging is enabled, your vehicle does not necessarily start charging as soon as you plug it in. Equally, an immediate start does not automatically mean Smart Charging is not working.
Start by checking your settings in the Home Charging section of the StromNow app.
My vehicle starts charging immediately
Is your battery below the minimum charge level?
If so, your vehicle first charges immediately up to the configured minimum.
For example, if your minimum charge level is 80%, your vehicle charges immediately to 80%. Only then can Smart Charging plan any remaining charging.
We recommend setting the minimum charge level to 20%, unless you need more range straight away. Set your target charge level separately.
Have you started immediate charging?
The immediate charging button overrides your current Smart Charging plan. Your vehicle can then continue charging immediately.
Does the current time fit the charging plan?
Smart Charging does not always delay charging. If the current time fits the plan, your vehicle may start charging straight away.
My vehicle does not start charging when I plug it in
A charging pause may be part of the plan. Once the minimum charge level has been reached, StromNow may schedule further charging for a later time.
Check the following:
Is Smart Charging enabled?
Are your target charge level and departure time set correctly?
Is your battery already at or above the target charge level?
Is your vehicle or home charger still connected to StromNow?
My vehicle initially stays at 20%
If you have set a minimum charge level of 20%, this may be expected behaviour.
The immediate charging phase is complete. Further charging follows the Smart Charging plan. Check that you have also set your target charge level and departure time.
I need to leave earlier and want to charge now
Use the immediate charging button at the bottom of the Home Charging section.
This overrides the current Smart Charging plan and allows your vehicle to continue charging immediately.
My target charge level was not reached
First, check that your target charge level and departure time were set correctly and that your vehicle was plugged in for long enough. The available charging time and actual charging power limit how much energy can be added.
Also check the connection to StromNow. We recommend connecting your vehicle whenever possible, as we use this connection to optimise and control charging.
