Operator Preferences in Route Planning

“Prefer or avoid” specific CPOs for your charging stops

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Welcome to the Help Center!
With the “Prefer or avoid operators” option, you can tell StromNow which CPOs (Charge Point Operators) the route planner should favor or avoid while planning. This gives you control over who provides your charging stops along the way.

Important: Operator preferences are only available when “Price-Optimized Route” is turned off.

Where to find the setting

  1. Plan a route (enter your destination).

  2. Open Route Settings / Filters.

  3. Select “Prefer or avoid operators.”

  4. Set a category for each operator you want to control.

The 5 categories (hierarchical behavior)

  • No preference (default)
Neutral — the operator is neither preferred nor avoided.

  • Exclude
    The operator is never considered.

  • Avoid
The planner tries not to route to this operator.
Exception: If avoiding would over-restrict the route or unnecessarily extend it, the operator may still be used.

  • Slightly prefer
The planner tries to include this operator when it does not negatively impact the route (time/detour).

  • Strongly prefer
The operator is prioritized and will be used whenever reasonably possible.
(If no suitable/compatible sites exist along the route, other operators may still be added.)

Remember: The hierarchy runs
Exclude → Avoid → No preference → Slightly prefer → Strongly prefer.
